Customer Rating: Summary: Great Show Comment: My daughter and I and others really enjoy this series. It can be cheesy, but is great overall.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Collection Comment: Awesome collection! Bought this collection for my husband and he has watched it at least 3 times so far.
Customer Rating: Summary: I love Avatar! Comment: I am a 15 year old from Singapore, and like other teenagers, have lost interest in everyday television cartoons like the ever-popular Spongebob Squarepants. Naturally, I thought Avatar was no different, but boy was I dead wrong! I gave the show a chance, and to sum up my opinion of the show in three words: I love it.
The Asian influence, the storyline, the characters - just plain amazing. Avatar must be the best kids show ever made. And because I was THAT excited to get this on DVD, I couldn't wait for Books 2 and 3 to be released locally (only Book 1 has been released here) and so I just had to ask my mother to buy them off Amazon. Yes, Avatar is that amazing.
And for buyers outside region 1 like myself, as far as I am concerned, the discs on this set do not contain RCE (regional coding enhancement). As long as you have a multi-regional player, you should be fine. However, when played on both my DVD players, the image tends to get just a little pixellated. I'm not quite sure if it has to do with my PAL television system, but I have other NTSC DVDs that work fine. Otherwise, the image and video quality is perfect.
Highly recommended by this 15 year old :)
Customer Rating: Summary: Avatar series is really cool!! Comment: My son was very happy to get this for Christmas along with his stuffed Appa! I recommend this for any avatar fan. This is a great dvd for the whole family.
Customer Rating: Summary: An atrocious ending to a promising series... Comment: I borrowed the series from a friend before the third season aired and I was hooked. The first season was ok, but the second season caught my imagination with the solid storytelling and great action sequences. I had to wait for a year to finish out the series--and I waited like a true fan waits; impatiently.
But when the series finally finished, I was appalled! What happened to the story plots that had been introduced? The learning that the characters were going through? It had all been sacrificed to two large helpings of deux ex machina. The first 3/4 of the season were filled with needless fluff that didn't further the main plot, and the last five episodes were a rush to get everything sealed up into an ending...
***mild spoilers***
A really bad ending complete with a scene of implied teenage sexuality highly inappropriate for children's cartoon (ep. 316) and the rape of a human mind in the forcible removal of a part of the antagonist (his bending)(ep. 321).
*****
As a mother and a once fan of the series, don't buy the third season. I was all set to flesh out my trilogy, but thankfully I saw the ending of season three before I bought it.
